The Five, More on Alwyn, and Horn People

  The results of the poll for your favorite member of The Five closed a few days ago. Sadly, Balakirev and Cui came in last with a total of no votes... Borodin and Mussorgsky tied for second, both with 23%. The winner was Rimsky-Korsakov with 53% of the votes!



  Susan Kodicek, who does marketing for the William Alwyn Foundation, contacted me today. She wanted to let me know the first annual William Alwyn Festival will be this Autumn. It will be held in Suffolk, England -the place where Alwyn lived and passed away. If you're in the area and are interested in this event then you can contact Susan at s.kodicek@gmail.com.


  For those of you that are involved in the Facebook group Horn People then you've probably  seen the profile picture contest. They're in the final round of looking for the "new face" of the the group, and whoever submitted the winning picture is the winner. The winner receives a copy of Orchestral Horn Excerpts compiled by Daren Robbins.
  The way to vote your favorite picture is to go to the album in the group labeled Finalists for profile pic. Then you click "like" whichever ones you want, and the picture with the most likes on Sunday, September 18 wins. I was fortunate enough to have two of the picture I submitted make it to the final seven. Now, I'm saying that you have to vote for my pictures, but any support would be greatly appreciated!
