One Busy Week!

Now that I have a few minutes free and I got my horn time in, it's time to catch you up on all that's going on with Discover Chicago...

Lounge at Metro
On Wednesday we went to the Metro in afternoon. It's a venue that has a night club in the basement but it's most well known for the bands it hosts. They gave bands like Modest Mouse, Plain White Tees, and Fall Out Boy their start. They have an interesting history since they started out as a cultural center for the Swedish. If you're a musician visiting Chicago I suggest you check this place out as it just has a lot of cool history and other aspects.

Outdoor at Ravinia
Wednesday night we headed over to a more classical venue, Ravinia. It's the largest summer music festival and the summer home to Chicago Symphony Orchestra. When we went it was a mixture of opera and Broadway vocals with Mandy Patinkin and Nathan Gunn. The concert was set up well, but I will warn younger audiences that it may be a bit awkward. Even though the majority of the crowd can't see the artists it is still treated like an indoor concert inside a hall, not like other outdoor venues.

Inside Ravinia Recital Hall

Yesterday was a great day that was full of amazing tours. We got to go to both the Symphony Hall and Auditorium Theatre. Sadly, we weren't allowed to take pictures at Symphony Hall, but most of you know that it's the home of Chicago Symphony and hopefully you'll get to see it sometime in your life.

In the Lobby
--At the Auditorium we we're allowed to take more pictures. The architecture inside is amazing because lobby is marble and set a darker atmosphere which makes you totally surprised when you walk through a smaller hall to get into the auditorium.

Ceiling of Auditorium Theatre
--As you as you step into the auditorium you are swept off your feet. The huge arches and tons of light and gold makes you feel the angels coming down from the rafters. Not to mention the long mural that depicts religious images that was hand painted upon the wall, not on a canvas and simply put up there.

The history of the Auditorium Theatre is extremely interesting, as they have had many finical issues. If you're interested in learning the history of the Chicago music scene I suggest you follow this link and learn about all what they went through.

--Now below are just some more cool pictures that I was able to take at Auditorium Theatre.
