Tip: Operation Organization!

First of all, I apologize for not posting these past few days. The combination of midterms, a concert, returning home over the weekend, and a handful of other tasks related to it being the start of the second half of the quarter have taken the precedence and forced me to push back my writing. That being said, I think it's great time for me to look at organization! Having this skill will help you be more successful with everything; from working on an etude to writing that important essay due on Thursday.

1. Start a Calender
This is the first step to making sure you can stay on top of everything. This should cover each day, and if you're ambitious you can even keep a schedule of your day -by the hour. If you keep an up-to-date calendar you can avoid double booking yourself and will never have to deal with making that tough phone call passing up a gig at the last minute.
In this technological era keeping a calendar is easier than ever too. A few great options are the calendar that's built into your phone because it'll probably be on you almost 100% of the time, which means it'll be easy to check and update at any time. Second, if you have a smartphone then you're probably already using Google Calendars - but if you have a regular phone, like me, then this is a great online resource that is very versatile and reliable. And in the end, if you simply don't feel like messing with all these gadgets, basic paper calendars work just as well too.

2. Have a Clean Work-Space
If this is reminding you of your room...
Then you might have a problem.
If the area that you're trying to work in is a mess... then chances are that you'll be a mess too. No offense. Just try to keep everything more collected because if you start getting in the mentality that everything "has a certain place", then you're life will feel more like everything has more of a place. Besides that you probably won't need to spend 10 minutes trying to find a pencil anymore; been there, done that.

3. Watch Out for Social Media!
These are known to suck all your time away, and we're all guilty of it. Of course it's fine to relax and use these, but the whole key is moderation and making sure you balance your day properly. Just think without Facebook, Twitter, and Tumblr how much more time you could possibly have...
